A research had been conducted and and the white paper research was properly detailed, meticulous perusal was carried out on the research through the user interviews findings, market research conducted, that resulted in a task flow that was utilised in the ideation sketches. The user research gave an insight into what was required to present a user experience that would assist in customer acquisition and retention there by making a positive impact on the overall customer experience.
Interviews were conducted on 5 people while we had carried out secondary research to determine focus areas to look at. It helped in the design direction and also provided data insight into possibility of creating user personas or not.
We brainstormed and had a mix of ideas when the business owner, sales and marketing manager, project manager and I deliberated on the mix of ideas, we voted for the best idea and selected the best idea which was to be ideated and resulted in the sketches below. We had some ideation sketches of what the application could look like when translated digitally. Multiple versions of sketches were made as shown below and the wireframes were based on the ideation.
I translated my chosen sketch into my first set of low fidelity wireframes and conducted my first round of usability testing to test the flow of the app and catch any issues early on, then i proceeded to seek for feedback from other members of the project team and applied the feedback received to the flow and functionality of my low fidelity wireframes to design the mid fidelity wireframes. I created the second version which is mid fidelity and conducted another round of user testing, see sample below of low fidelity wireframes..
We proceeded to drafting an information architecture that was used to create a low fidelity prototype, tested and eventually used to create a high fidelity prototype.
After the high-fidelity prototype I conducted usability testing with 5 users in order to obtain practical, real-time feedback to improve the design if any and provide a more optimal user experience.
While working on this project i can list a few lessons i learnt, I learned how crucial it was to go into the research phase with no biases and no solution in mind. The interviews and secondary research provided insights that helped with empathising and defining the problems. I have also learned that it is critical to experiment early on, especially during the sketching process, because as you progress in the project, it becomes increasingly more difficult to make changes. Taking your time to experiment with different app designs early on, will save time down the road.
